Fancy coming along? Hurry, tickets are limited…
Thirty-six years since they first burst on to the music scene the line-up may be a little different, but Chrissie Hynde is still the leading lady. The group, with those energetic guitar riffs, piercing arrangements, hard and tender lyrics sung by one of the most powerful voices of a generation, it all sounds extraordinarily familiar – The Pretenders are back and they’re going to rock Euro Festival!
Their new album Alone, released in October 2016 to critical acclaim, resembles a more mature, bigger brother to that released 36 years ago. The 2016 version of The Pretenders consists, of course, of Chrissie Hynde on vocals; Dave Roe, former bass player to Johnny Cash; members from The Arcs including Kenny Vaughan and Dan Auerbach on guitar, Leon Michels on keyboard and Richard Swift on drums; and Russ Pahl completes the line-up with subtle nuances with his pedal steel guitar.
The Chris Slade Timeline
Legendary rock drummer Chris Slade and his band will hit the main stage on the beach at Euro Festival!
You will probably know Chris as the drummer for the Australian hard rock band AC/DC. He previously drummed for the band from 1989 to 1994, performing on their 1990 album The Razors Edge along with their first live album with singer Brian Johnson, AC/DC Live. He returned to the band in February 2015 for the Rock or Bust World Tour. Slade has also played with Tom Jones, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Asia and Gary Moore among others.
The Chris Slade Timeline was formed in 2012 to celebrate Slade’s more than 50 years as a professional drummer. The band takes music from his career, which includes some of the greatest rock anthems in music history.
Formed in 1998, Triggerfinger is a Belgian rock band with Ruben Block as vocalist and guitarist, Paul Van Bruystegem on bass and Mario Goossens on drums.
Their sound will appeal to young and old alike. The younger generation will recognise the international sound of Queens Of The Stone Age while the old rockers will be reminded of Led Zeppelin.
The former lead singer of Skip The Use, Mat Bastard is back!
We know Mat Bastard as an electro funk, rock and punk singer, but for the past two years he has been a record producer, writing and composing music for different artists and also for the cinema.
Mat has been settled in the United States for several years, writing and working for other artists before starting to write for himself once again. From those first lines the desire to produce his own solo album has burned inside, and his new solo album will be released in the summer of 2017.
On his new album, Mat focuses on today’s society, and although Californian in sound there are still the old punk/rock influences as Mat works with people from his first punk group, Carving, ,as well as Oliv from Belgian electro band The Subs.
Mat is now coming to Grimaud and will rock the beach at Euro Festival!
Primal blues rock duo The Picturebooks form a pastiche that’s as individualistic as it is infectious.
It’s not surprising that The Picturebooks recorded their 2014 album, Imaginary Horse, in the same garage where they regularly refurbish and repair motorcycles and choppers. The German duo – Fynn Claus Grabke (vocals, guitar) and Philipp Mirtschink (drums) – capture a raw, rich and real energy befitting of the room’s natural reverb, industrial aura and spiritual spark.
